Top performing students honoured
A record number of 27 SCMB students and graduates who achieved outstanding results in 2013 were honoured at the School's Student Awards Evening in May.
The winners received prizes including cash, books, a medal, membership of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and travel bursaries.
Two students, Emily Furlong and Daniel Cheung, won more than one prize each.
Several prizes were presented by valued industry and alumni sponsors.
Emeritus Professor Susan Hamilton presented three new awards, established by her generous donation.
She then addressed winners, their friends and families and SCMB staff about her time as a UQ student and staff member, and how science can lead to fulfilling careers. Her entertaining talk included an insight into her retirement lifestyle in the Scenic Rim region and a quiz, the prize for which was a hamper of produce from the region.
After the formalities, guests enjoyed a cocktail function at the awards venue, the UQ Art Musuem.
Photographs of the event are viewable in this album on the School's Facebook page.
