Cover from the Journal of the American Chemical Society (November 24, 2009)Dr Shih-Chun (Lawrence) Lo, Prof Paul Burn and collaborators have had a research paper featured on the front page of the Journal of American Chemical Society.
Dr Lo and Prof Burn are researchers from the Centre for Organic Photonics & Electronics (COPE) – a joint initiative between the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences and the School of Mathematics and Physics.

The research has implications for maintaining colour quality and brightness on large-area flat panel displays and lighting applications. For most of phosphorescent blue materials, the luminescent efficiency tends to decrease as the blue gets deeper.  However, COPE researchers have developed a strategy to reduce the non-radiative decay rate in deep blue phosphorescence.
