More than 5000 female chemists from 44 countries shared breakfast in January 2011 to mark the International Year of Chemistry and the 100th anniversary of Marie Curie being awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

"Women Sharing a Chemical Moment in Time" was the brainchild of Professsor Mary Garson, from UQ's School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences, and involved linking via video and Twitter the 1000 different breakfasts held around the world.

The event had to be reolocted from its South Bank venue to higer ground at Woolooongabba due to the floods.
