SCMB's top performing tutors for second semester 2010 have been recognised for their efforts.

The tutors achieved a score of 4.89 or better (out of 5.0) on the overall performance question of student evaluation surveys, along with a score of 5 on evaluations completed by staff.

Twelve tutors received a certificate of acheivement and a movie ticket voucher, while those able to attend enjoyed a lunch hosted by Head of School, Professor Melissa Brown, on 14 March 2011.

They tutored across courses in a range of disciplines and year levels.

In her address to tutors, Professor Brown emphasised the important role they play in the School.

"You are at the front line of our teaching effort and are vital to enhancing the learning experience of our students," she said.

"If they are excited by how you teach, there is a greater chance that they will be inspired to consider further study, and possibly even research, in our disciplines."

According to Lucy Tucker, one of the tutors recognised for outstanding performace, the students were also a source of inspiration to the tutors.

"The students are all really focussed and willing to learn," she said.

"It was great fun."
