There are more than 400 core biotechnology companies in Australia and more than 600 medical device companies, so there are many employment opportunites.
Recent UQ Bachelor of Biotechnology or Master of Biotechnology graduates have been employed by IP Australia, UNISEED, Uniquest, Pfizer Animal Health, Glaxo (US), Agrenvec (Spain), Novartis (Switzerland), Intas Biopharma (India), Bureau of Sugar Experiment Stations, Inverness Medical Innovations Ltd, Ausindustry, Department of Primary Industry, Impedimed, Mater Medical Research Institute, Institute for Molecular Bioscience, the AIBN, the nutraceuticals/cosmetics industry, and many other companies and institutes.
Eligible students can complete an industry placement, like Ann Damien's with Cook Medical, which led to a job there.
Other graduates are continuing study towards a PhD or Professional Doctorate.
