Description:

Local biologically active plant species will be extracted and screened for anti-cancer activity. Extraction, cancer bioassay guided fractionation, and if time permits structure elucidation, will be undertaken to identify the bioactive components.    

 

Expected outcomes and deliverables:

Scholars will acquire skills in chemical purification, cancer cell based bioassays and chemical structure determination. Students will be asked to produce a report at the end of their project.

 

Suitable for:

This project is open to applications from enrolled UQ students with a background in chemistry, and preferably those in the second and third year of undergraduate study.
