Biotechnology students and staff on North Stradbroke Island

Undergraduate biotechnology students spent an educational and fun weekend at the UQ Moreton Bay Research Station, North Stradbroke Island, in March.

This annual field trip offers new and continuing students an opportunity to get a better understanding of biotechnology theory, research and practical applications.

At the 2010 field trip, students attended presentations by industry experts, workshopped their skills and discussed their studies with senior student mentors.

However, it wasn't all work: the field trip also offered students the opportunity to get to know their classmates, experience Moreton Bay's natural beauty and relax for a weekend.

In fact, the activities were the perfect mix of excitement and relaxation, according to Bachelor of Biotechnology student Faizureen Afzal Mazlan

"We really enjoyed the trip", she said.
